Roof Craft Dunedin is a locally owned Dunedin roofing company. Owner Josh Whelan has been roofing in Dunedin since 2013 and is a Licensed Building Practitioner. He quotes every job himself and is on the roof for most of them, with a small crew who have worked together for years. Reroofs, new roofs, tile-to-iron conversions, membrane, leak repairs and spouting, across Dunedin and the Otago coast, all backed by a 10-year workmanship guarantee.

Josh spent eleven years on other people’s crews before starting Roof Craft Dunedin in 2024. That time taught him what makes a roof last here and what makes one fail early, usually at the flashings and the details nobody sees from the street. He still does most of the work himself, which is why the roofs look the way they do in the photos. The same person who measures your roof and writes the quote is the one fitting the ridge.

Josh holds an LBP licence in roofing, so restricted building work is done and signed off by someone qualified to do it. LBP number BP166400, licensed since 2025.

The crew is harness and abseil trained, so steep pitches, high-access sections and Dunedin's hillside sites get done properly. If a roof can be reached safely, we'll roof it.

Most people replacing a roof have never done it before, so we keep the process plain. Josh visits, gets on the roof, and tells you what he finds, including anything that can wait. The quote is written, itemised, and explains what is being replaced and why. Once you say go, you get a start date and we keep it.
